Tips When Using Release Agent During Pultrusion Process

Since most liquid release agent is acidic, we should pay attention to the following issues:
1, When using acid-sensitive pigment, color may change;
2, In the use of alkaline filler, such as calcium carbonate, acid stripping agent can react with, cause the mixture viscosity increase, but won’t affect the release effect;
3, If the packing for aluminum hydroxide, acid release agent in addition to make the mixture viscosity increases, will be in the mix moisture release in the curing process, cause air bubble, crack problems. Usually, the initial dose of releasing agent for resin volume 1%, effectively adding range is the weight of resin based 0.75-2%. Should be adjusted according to the actual situation.
4, For thin wall pultruded profiles, release agent amount can be less, such as 0.8% or less
5, For thick wall profiles or complex shape profiles, we need to add some more release agent
6, In a high filler system, we should add the quantity and improve the internal mold release agent, but if the release agent is added too much, that will delay the solidification.
7, In the pultrusion production, if the resistance is too large and the reason can’t be found, we need to increase the amount of release agent. When using it, attention should be paid to the feeding sequence, when mixed before adding curing agent, filler and another resin additive will release agent and resin system and evenly mixed. It can achieve the best effect of stripping.
